Endeavour Golf Club

Introducing our new club

Our inaugural meeting at Taren Point Bowling Club

Our new identity - Endeavour Golf Club - is now up and running and with a sensational amount of interest it was no surprise that we have now filled our membership.
We had our inaugural meeting a few weeks back and your new committee is:

  • President: Joe Magner
  • Treasurer: Brian Stevenson
  • Secretary: Grahame Batger
  • Captain: Harold Remfry
  • Vice Capt: Murray Reid

This has been a long time coming and with a lot of hard work and with persistence by Ray Galbraith, Mike Schrafft and Paul Pritchard it has come to fruition. We did have differences with WGC but they seemed to be oblivious to the situation and so we struck out on our own. I feel that this has been the best move we could have made and I believe that the club will be a success. This will be the blueprint for other clubs in the future.

We should also thank Barry Bent for his assistance and guidance throughout the process.

We have commenced a very good relationship with Links Shell Cove and the people there are more than willing to help out in every facet so that our transfer is as seamless as possible. Membership cards and welcome packs will be sent directly to all members along with a GolfLink card which should be issued in a few weeks time.

Next round (10th April) will see us playing as our new club and our results will now be forwarded to Links Shell Cove, with whom we are now affiliated. Harold Remfry will be the one sending off the results card to LSC, so if you have any questions please contact Harold direct.

The new slope system comes into effect that weekend and our handicaps will be adjusted accordingly by GolfLink. Make sure you check your handicap after receiving your membership card and try to stay aware of it.

We will be entering our fortnightly reports on this page along with any photos from our social activities. If you want anything included on this page please contact me.

Remember, our trip to Nelson Bay is only a couple of weeks away, so you should already have your money to Brent in order to secure a spot. This weekend was a big hit last year and proved excellent value.

Cheers!
Henno

We hope that you all support this new grade approach and look forward to greater competition - and more sledging - amongst members.

Secretary

Results Saturday 28th August 2010

Well fellas, another sensational day (as per usual) with some good scores coming in, particularly from Nathan Colussi, Matt Gallagher and the evergreen Ray Galbraith.
Ray’s front nine of 25 points was the best we have seen since Murray Reid scored a total of 50 points down at Calderwood several years ago.
Matchplay results are getting tighter in each round as you can see below and with the semis coming up next round, the lower handicappers are going to have to be at the top of their game to get through to the final.Reesy is playing some great golf at the moment, having gone on his “hippy diet”. Henno is still scrambling his way around the course, but with more practice just might be able to get out of a bunker in the not-too-distant future...

The next round is the 11th September and we have been guaranteed the full complement (40). I’m not sure about the current numbers, but I think I glanced at the sheet yesterday and saw that we have about 36 starters already.

Matchplay:
Graeme Rees defeated John Fisher 3up
Mark Hennessy defeated Frank Mandile 1up
Steve Chapman defeated Matt Colbert 2up
Brian Stevenson defeated Paul Pritchard 1up

Next round:
Graeme Rees(18) plays Brian Stevenson(30)
Mark Hennessy(14) plays Steve Chapman(28)

NTP:
4th Hole - Harold Remfry
7th Hole (Drive & Pitch) - Mike Schrafft
10th Hole - Graeme Rees
16th Hole - Mark Hennessy
Longest Drive A - Leighton Cramp
Longest Drive B - Darren Hough
Longest Drive C - John Fitzgerald

Cheers,
Henno
